Oracle-on-Linux Validated Stacks and Configurations

If you are handling Oracle-on-Linux specially for those who are planning to switch or for new implementations and deployments, one of the difficult part of planning is which Linux distro to use? Which server to use? Which storage device to use? Even which Oracle database version to use? Are they all compatible?

I can find one guide and recommendation for one component stack, but it's very difficult to find a document saying this version of Oracle works perfectly with this server and storage device and linux distro. The other way to verifiy for best stack combination, and this is very common practice here in the Middle-East is they are visiting some companies that already using Oracle-on-Linux and find there stack configurations and details. Of course, Oracle consultants can give you endless of combination but in my point of view, its not easy to trust consultants regarding this very critical and very important part of your Oracle-on-Linux implementation as in my very honest opinion here in the Middle East at this point of time, the real expertise in Oracle-on Linux is not really there yet (this is according to my personal experience with the Consultants).

Anyways, here's the good news for all of us: Oracle provided us specific and “validated” configurations for a complete componnet stack (software, hardware, and storage). From the table you basically select which stack you're using or like to implement and just follow all the configurations, there you go, you got the peace of mind that you got the right combination and configuration. This way you are not only sure that you are using a certified stacks but most of all, all your components are all validated by Oracle themselves.
