Before I end up this initial setup of Drupal, let me explain the real reasons why I’m switching from Xaraya to Drupal keeping aside the errors that I got before the switch.

Just a little bit of background; this is my third time I’m re-starting my site. I launched this site using Wordpress back November 2005 when I was in Dubai. I was happy with Wordpress as far as personal blogging is concerned but I got some personal requirements that Wordpress was not supporting natively; I started searching for more complex CMS, and that was the time I tested both Drupal and Xaraya. Xaraya offers more flexibility and power in my opinion compare to Drupal, therefor I selected and used Xaraya to powered my site.

With the help of my great friend Tanc, I able to easily switched my Wordpress site to Xaraya – he even created for me the theme – the most beautiful plain site design I ever had, I simply love it. I used and digged Xaraya deeper and it made me crazy as I got hooked-up with so many possibilities inside. My addiction to Xaraya created some imbalances in my balance learning :) Mostly every time that I'm into “learning mode”, Xaraya is what I'm doing. In short, Xaraya started to consume my life, and I don't want to go up to this level of spending time and learning just for a CMS; I got too many things far more important to learn and study :)

Honestly, I have nothing against Xaraya, this beast is really beautiful and powerful; unfortunately all these positive attributes of Xaraya are also the same reasons why I'm ridding off Xaraya in my life now – too many things I can think of using it, I can't simply stop learning Xaraya. I need to free up and divert myself to something new. This time with Drupal I'll try not to dig it deeper - I will simply use what the core and official contributed released modules are offering – no tweaking, no hacking, no PHP changes, even I'll try not to touch the xhtml and CSS of the themes.

2007 will be a very busy year for me both in my work and in personal life. I need to really very strict to my time and what to focus to. And sad to think, learning Xaraya and developing it is no room for me this year. I don't want to see Xaraya interface for now :) I need a new CMS which I will not really attempt to learn - just simply joyfully use it!

Maybe next year, or maybe soon that I'm free and need something to burn my brain cells; I'll try Xaraya again, if not in this site maybe in my other sites.

Thanks Tanc for the Xaraya theme you created for me. It was really a difficult decision for me to bring down the old site as I really like that theme a lot, how I wish I can port it back to Drupal – but I will not :) The time that we spent together teaching me the ins and outs of Xaraya may now be over, but the learning and the experience of being taught by a real master will be always remembered. Thanks man! You're the best!

Thanks Xaraya for letting me experienced again like when I was starting with Linux. I'm looking forward to touch you again.
