Windows and Linux on IBM Lenovo

I got today 2 new Core 2 Duo 2GB RAM Lenovo Desktop PC. One of them - I dual-booted with Windows XP SP2 and Vista Ultimate; and the other one - I multi-booted it with Ubuntu 7.4, CentOS 5, Fedora 7, and openSUSE 10.2.

They are all screaming fast!

Cool

Sounds good man, is this for personal use? I used Vista for a while and there are loads of things I really like about it. It seems to be more logical than XP in terms of user interface. A step in the right direction. I went back to XP though due to it's lower demands on my hardware and seeing as I only use Windows for gaming on my Macbook Pro this is essential to sqeeze maximum framerates out of it.

Workstations at work

My workstations at work :) Basically my toy boxes. I love to try different distros of Linux - that's why I multi-booted one of the boxes with my favorite distros, try what's new in the new version and implement it in the live server.

The Windows box is inevitable to me; I need to use XP as some of our applications only runs in XP, also while I'm doing support to our users sometimes I need to simulate the environment in order to help them accurately. Oh yeah, the Vista is indeed the ultimate desktop from Microsoft, finally, hehehe, especially if you installed it with a high configuration hardware, you will really appreciate the charm of it.

Vista is my default Windows desktop; while Ubuntu is my default Linux desktop.

I also use parallels in Windows ;) especially in testing security (virus behavior, network share access, server/client interaction, etc.), and of course playing with anything unsure ;)

It's pretty cool!

Parallels

Yeah, I use Parallels too for testing. In my case I have dual booted my Macbook Pro with a tiny partition for Windows XP and the main disk space for OS X 10.4.9. I then have Parallels set up in OS X so that I can boot the Windows environment installed on my Bootcamp partition in the virtualised environment. If I need performance and speed for games then I have to reboot into Windows. I've got XP nicely set up with Internet Explorer versions 4, 5, 5.5, 6 and 7 to test my websites. Having a Mac is best of both worlds these days thanks to Parallels and soon VMWare Fusion.

What I'm doing?
